The Tyne Valley Oyster Festival has a long history of giving back to the community. In fact, the festival was created 56 years ago to raise enough money to build the original Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre. Year after year, the money from the festival was used to add onto the structure until we were finally left with a completed rink.

In fact, the festival was created 56 years ago to raise enough money to build the original Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre. Year after year, the money from the festival was used to add onto the structure until we were finally left with a completed rink.

Since then, all festival events have been put on to support the rink in some way. In the last 7 years of the festival, there has been over $300,000 donated to the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre. Not only does the festival proudly support the main location for its events, but it also backs Tyne Valley Minor Hockey, Tyne Valley Figure Skating Club, Tyne Valley Fire Department, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters PEI.
